A Look At Candidates Vying to Chair the African Union

African leaders will, on 15-16 February, elect the chairperson of the African Union Commission. Currently there are three candidates: Raila Odinga of Kenya, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf of Djibouti, and Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar.
The election’s outcome will influence Africa’s political and economic direction in the coming years, shaping the continent’s future priorities and policies.
